Lanzarote 2008.

Got a while before my other brothers 18th birthday meal so I can write a blog, not really had time to do it until now for some reason even though I haven’t really done much the last few days hmm.

Returned to a rather dismal England on Sunday evening after a lovely ten days in sunny Lanzarote. We stayed in a small place called Matagorda not far from Arrecife Airport. The villa was great, very spacious and has a nice pool very near to the beach also which is where I achieved my very pink yet a lot browner now-tan. Recommend the villa’s in the area very clean and well looked after there thats for sure

Nightlife there wasn’t great though, the restaurants nearby were pretty samey with the usual pizza-steak- burger-pasta combo and most waiters/waitresses questioned me when I ordered a beer? I’m 22 not 14 – I think 14 is the drinking age there? I think I look older than 18 anyway. The pubs around were pretty insulting to the English having been mainly karaoke bars, I think one had on the outside “Come sing with Wally and Vivian” which is an embarrassment to the nation really if they think that will drag the public in.

Last Sunday we visited a market in Teguise which was absolutely massive and tonnes of people walking around at one point I said “Do you think if we started a conga everyone would join in.” No one was up for that one though. Boring old sods hehe. For Lunch I had the best Tapas ever (and best food I had all holiday too) it was perfect, Matagorda restaurants take note!!

Mum and I took a day trip to Arrecife and it was amazing, there were no English at all (nice break), the shops had a Zara and Mango amongst others not the usual crap around so was a nice change. Mum did mention that I liked it so much because I am used to cities like Birmingham, Manchester and Frankfurt so that was probably why I enjoyed it so much.

My Mum also took me on a walk to watch the planes come down, they actually looked like they were going to land on us and suck us into the engines like birds so I got a bit upset (actually cried) not liking things that go over my head like birds/bridges ect.

All in all a lovely and well needed brake and rest after a very hardworking year at Uni. I really needed it. A big thanks to my Grandparents and family for taking me and spending some quality time with me.

While over there I managed to watch all the football so I’m very happy with Germany’s progress so far. My predictions are Germany will beat Turkey on Wednesday then on Thursday Russia will beat Spain. Then in the final on Saturday Germany will kick Russia’s hairy ass. What do you all think? more importantly shall I bet on it?
